Capstone Blog Post

As an intern at Strategic Elements, I collaborated with other interns to write blog posts and social media content to promote the company’s internship program. Linked below is the blog post I wrote for this project.

Strategic Elements Interns: Learning, Leading, and Innovating

Word Count: 333

The summer interns at Strategic Elements have been hard at work learning real-world skills and collaborating with the team’s public affairs professionals. SE internships are the perfect opportunity for career preparation and provide real-life experience in the world of public affairs. The company's organized structure and helpful employees readily teach interns new skills, hold them accountable, and allow them to contribute to meaningful client and internal work.

SE's team enthusiastically collaborates on projects, creating an environment that fosters teamwork and innovation. Faith Millsap, a public affairs intern, shared from her internship experience: "a key takeaway I have gained is the ability to work with colleagues who all have different roles in projects and then at the end of the day, everyone comes together to combine their work and create a flawless project."

Strategic Elements' interns entered their summer internships with specific goals in mind to enhance writing, operations, marketing, and social media skillsets.  Our public affairs interns were given many opportunities to apply their knowledge and sharpen their writing skills in practical situations. In fact, our interns contributed to the company's weekly newsletter, The Weekender, writing about current events and collaborating with managers to promote the company. The operations intern supports all teams by making processes more efficient, from researching and organizing to strategizing for various projects. The marketing interns had the opportunity to design one-pagers, internal documents, and social media posts. Then, our digital team intern monitored Strategic Elements' social media accounts, researched how to improve them, and scheduled social posts; in addition, he completed data projects to increase automation for the team

Interns also received leadership opportunities by participating in and leading calls with team members and other interns. Interns also engaged with more experienced SE professionals to learn and improve their skills. Working with managers, our interns sought feedback and gained experience to better themselves on their journey to becoming public affairs professionals. Interns greatly helped the SE team this summer, bringing hard work and creative ideas to every project.
